Our Vision

LocalMart is based on three main premises:
1. Many products that we purchase are produced and shipped from far away locations but can be produced locally.
2. Locally produced products and services have environmental benefits and they help to strengthen communities.
3. Everyone has some skill, talent or capability to produce some useful product or service, either individually or as part of a team.

Our vision is to match the opportunity to localize our economy with the existing but unused capabilities of community members.

How Localmart Works

At Localmart, we’re creating a marketplace that puts community first. Here’s how:

• Localmart is a members only, multi vendor ecommerce platform. Each member is a customer but must also have or develop some product or service that can be offered in their own vendor store on Localmart. In this way, everyone contributes to the circular local economy.
• Prospective members submit a useful service or a product for approval, produced to the extent possible from locally sourced materials and labor.
• After review to determine alignment with Localmart standards for utility, local content and sustainability, approved products and services can be set up in the Localmart marketplace.
• Each vendor will have their own store in the marketplace where they can offer their products and services.
• Our team provides guidance and support throughout the process. (If you don’t have a product or service to offer, let up help you find a group, or discover your “inner entrepreneur”.)
